EasternGear's 🤖 2024 Robo World Review

Last week, from October 23rd (Wednesday) to October 26th (Saturday), we participated in the 🤖 2024 RoboWorld exhibition! During this event, we had the opportunity to engage with various companies, and we were pleased to see a growing interest in globoid worm gears. It was evident that the demand for high-output worm reducers is increasing, and this experience was invaluable for us.

Particularly, we received numerous inquiries about the manufacturing of small gears, which are widely used in precision devices and robotics. Therefore, today, we would like to share a summary of the feedback from RoboWorld along with answers to frequently asked questions. Please feel free to check these out, and if you have any additional inquiries, don't hesitate to reach out through comments or our official website! :)

Q. What are EasternGear’s main products?

EasternGear specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of globoid worm gears. In addition to worm gears, we also manufacture gear reducers, actuators, robotic arms, and collaborative robots such as AMRs.

Q. What is the difference between regular worm gears and globoid worm gears?

Globoid worm gears differ from regular worm gears. The contact points between the gears in globoid designs are surface contact rather than point contact, which leads to better load distribution, higher power transmission, and enhanced wear resistance.

This ensures greater output and precision compared to traditional worm gears. Furthermore, globoid worm gears can be more compact, making them ideal for the high-output and precision demands of the robotics industry.

Q. What is the specific output difference between regular and globoid worm gears?

With similar specifications, using a higher-rated motor becomes feasible with globoid worm gears, leading to increased output torque while reducing wear and tear, thus ensuring a longer lifespan compared to regular worm gears.

Q. Do you manufacture other types of gears?

Due to the complex shape and manufacturing challenges of globoid worm gears, we can more easily produce other types of gears. We also manufacture spur gears, helical gears, planetary gears, bevel gears, and more. Feel free to inquire about any specific gear manufacturing needs!

Q. What is the minimum size for manufacturing small gears?

In our manufacturing examples, we produced a globoid worm gear used in missile wings with a CD(Center Distance) size of 17mm, and we can manufacture down to a minimum of 10mm. For detailed inquiries regarding small gear manufacturing, please contact us directly.

Q. What are AGMA standards?

We comply with the international standards set by the American Gear Manufacturers Association, specifically ANSI/AGMA 6135-A02. EasternGear develops simultaneous area contact gears based on the AGMA 6135 A-02 standard, utilizing enhanced design and processing technologies.

Q. Do you manufacture in-house?

Yes, we have established a production line at our facility and are currently engaged in in-house manufacturing and mass production.

Q. What is your manufacturing process?

EasternGear manufactures gears using 5-axis machining, streamlining the traditional 4-step gear manufacturing process into a single step. This not only saves time and space but also maintains precision while enabling more economical production.

Additionally, unlike traditional methods that often involve heat treatment that can damage products, our 5-axis forming process can complete production without heat treatment, minimizing product damage.

Q. Where are you located?

Our operations office is located at the Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center, and our manufacturing plant is situated in Waegwan, Chilgok, Gyeongbuk.
